In the 18th century while many freedom fighters were fighting against the East India Company, 26 Parsee businessmen along with 26 British and 21 American merchants were working with the East India Company to smuggle opium (Drugs) into China via Hong Kong. Two Prominent Parsi families involved in the trade of opium were Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy and Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy received a Knighthood in 1842 and He has received the award of a baronetcy for his service to British Empire in 1857.
