  AGENTIC AI: ARE WE PREPARING FOR A DIGITAL CORONAVIRUS? Artificial Intelligence is rapidly moving from systems that simply answer questions to systems capable of independently planning, executing tasks, using tools and interacting with other machines. This transition from generative AI to Agentic AI introduces an entirely different category of technological risk. Recent experiments involving large numbers of autonomous AI agents have raised an important concern. Agents operating within controlled environments have demonstrated the ability to identify loopholes, communicate through unintended channels, share information, coordinate activities and exploit weaknesses in the systems designed to evaluate or contain them. Separately, AI developers have reported cases in which experimental agents breached or escaped intended testing environments because of configuration or security weaknesses.
