Trust Or Rapport

What is more important, Trust or Rapport?

If you are thinking this is a silly question, you are right. Trust and rapport go hand in hand, but just because you have rapport doesn't mean you have trust.

Rapport is establishing a bond or connection with another person. Oftentimes, this can be done very quickly. Rapport can be built in a matter of minutes or it can take hours or days depending on the situation. When we have built rapport with another person, it creates positive feelings about us within them. This positive energy leads to a feeling similar to trust, but it is not the deep rooted trust we hope to earn.

Trust on the other hand takes time and consistency. Rarely will we give someone our highest level of trust after knowing them for a day, a week, or even a month.

Trust is a confident belief in a person, a team, or an organization. In leadership, rapport and trust are two essential elements to build strong relationships that lead to influence.

Rapport is an essential element of trust. Here are 9 Ways Leaders Build Rapport:

 1. Show genuine interest in the other person.

 2. Demonstrate care and concern.

 3. Insert positive energy.

 4. Be curious - ask questions about them.

 5. Find common ground or even a small common thread.

6. Share a little about yourself that connects in common areas.

 7. Get to know people on a personal level first.

8. Ask them what they need.

 9. Make sure your actions align with your words.

and TRUST is built on CREDABLITY

And CREDABLITY on Consistency

and Consistency is rooted in CHARACTER

CHARACTER is rooted in your family values taught to you by ur MOTHER
